Barack Obama makes history today by becoming the first black president of the United States of America.

Barack Hussein Obama II is being hailed as the man responsible for bringing a message of hope to a nation fatigued by war, blighted by the current recession, and eager for dramatic change after eight years under the leadership of George W. Bush in the White House.

While I appreciate the significance of Obama’s inauguration, I just don’t care.
Maybe it’s because I am not American, or maybe it’s because I am a cynic, but I am not particularly interested in Barack Obama; I am only writing this post because as the news is so full of Obama stories I couldn’t find much else to write about!

Obama is constantly being referred to as a ‘Black’ man, I honestly do not see the relevance.
Barack Obama may well be a ‘black’ man, but first and foremost he is a ‘politician’, and that is the only fact that the people of America, and everywhere else for that matter, need to remember.

I imagine that not too far in the future those who voted for Barack Obama as a black man will realise that he is purely another politician, who will no doubt fail to uphold his promises and disappoint a lot of people.

There is one other thing I would like to say - but as nothing online is private; ‘Big Brother’ wouldn’t like it, I have resisted the temptation to write what will no doubt occur with Obama in the future ……. it’s pretty obvious and anyone with at least one functioning brain cell is probably thinking the same.
So I will end with …….
Welcome to the White House President Barack Obama - let the fun begin!
