Police chase car, car pulls over, driver is a 7 year old! Video

Posted in Topsy~Turvy  by Laura on July 31st, 2009

In Utah, a 7-year-old boy led police on a car chase through Weber County. The boy eventually pulled into a driveway and ran into a garage.

My hubby showed me this video without telling me the age of the driver, so I was pretty surprised when I saw a tiny child jump out of the car and run away. :o
Apart from the fact that the child could have killed himself or someone else, this video is pretty funny. Maybe it proves that playing video driving games is no bad thing because his driving wasn’t that bad - I’ve seen much worse on the local road where I live!

Kieron Williamson, a 6-year-old boy from Norfolk, England, is taking the art world by storm with his paintings of boats.
Kieron first began painting last year when he was on holiday with his mother Michelle.
Michelle said it was the harbours, boats and scenery that captured Kieron’s imagination.
Kierons work is displayed at a local gallery, and buyers are reportedly eager to purchase his paintings.

If Kieron makes a regular income from his paintings it will save his mum a lot of pocket money!

Missing Mutt Muffy Founds after 9 Years, 1,200 miles away! Video

Posted in Animals, News, Videos  by Laura on July 30th, 2009

Muffy the missing mutt has finally been reunited with her owners after 9 years!

Muffy, a scruffy terrier-cross, is heading home to her owners after the RSPCA found her living stray in a garden in Melbourne, Australia.
Muffy’s delighted owner Natalie Lampard last saw her beloved puppy running out of her back garden in Brisbane, which is more than 2,000 kms, 1,200 miles away.
Natalie had given up hope of her seeing Muffy ever again.
She said, “It’s a mystery. When the RSPCA described her, I told them her name, I knew immediately it was our Muffy.
“It was totally out of the blue, after nine years, I thought she was long gone.”

Missing mutt Muffy with the RSPCA officer

Muffy was suffering from a severe allergic reaction to fleas, and she has been under treatment since animal welfare officers found her asleep on a scrap of cardboard they received a tip off from a member of the public.
Natalie Lampard, who originally adopted Muffy from a Brisbane animal shelter, said Muffy is recovering well and should be able to fly home next week.
Natalie added, “It’s such a great ending to the tail.” :o

In the video Chloe, the daughter of Natalie Lampard, said that they had left Muffy with friends and that they thought she had run away.
I would have thought Muffy would have changed a little bit since she was a pppy, but apparently Muffy was micro-chipped so she is the same dog.
This isn’t a shaggy dog story ~ it’s true!

Beluga Whale Saves Drowning Free Diver Yang Yun

Posted in Animals, News  by Laura on July 29th, 2009

These amazing pictures show a beluga whale saving a diver.

The beluga whale saved the drowning diver by carrying her leg in its mouth and pushing her up to the surface.
The diver, Yang Yun, 26, was terrified as she thought she was going to die when her legs were paralysed by crippling cramps in the arctic temperatures.
Yang Yun had been diving without any breathing equipment as she was taking part in a free diving contest.
The competitors had to sink to the bottom of an aquarium’s 20ft arctic pool and stay there for as long as possible, amid the beluga whales at Polar Land in Harbin, north east China.
When Yang Yun attempted to head back up to the surface she struggled to move her legs.
Yang Yun said, “I began to choke and sank even lower and I thought that was it for me - I was dead. Until I felt this incredible force under me driving me to the surface.”

Beluga whale Mila had seen Yang Yuns difficulties, and using her sensitive dolphin-like nose guided her safely to the surface.
An organiser said, “Mila noticed the problem before we did.
“We suddenly saw the girl being pushed to the top of the pool with her leg in Mila’s mouth.
“She’s a sensitive animal who works closely with humans and I think this girl owes her, her life.”

I love heartwarming stories like this. :)
But then I feel sad for the beluga whales having to live in such a confined space, and the cynic in me thinks that maybe this was just a well planned way of gaining lots of free advertising for Polar Land!

Jesus Christ is Everywhere!

Posted in Food ~ Recipes, Funny Pictures  by Laura on July 29th, 2009

Jesus is clearly very busy. He’s been spotted everywhere, including the latest sighting of him in a roasting pan!
Builder Oliver Bellerby discovered this image of Jesus in a baking tray.
Oliver spotted what he considers the perfectly formed face of Jesus Christ in the burnt fat that was left on the bottom of a baking tray after he had cooked a burger for dinner.

Oliver Bellerby, 21, from Harrogate, Yorkshire, England, was stunned by what he saw in the leftover grease.
Oliver said, “I went back to the kitchen after having dinner to get a drink and I just saw it straight away - the face of Jesus.
“My mate saw it too when I showed him. It blew us both away so we took a picture.”

Here are some other ’sightings’ of Jesus Christ ~

Lola’s Giant £45 Cupcake

Posted in Food ~ Recipes  by Laura on July 29th, 2009

A new giant cupcake which costs £45 has been a big seller since it went on sale in the UK earlier this month.
The cupcakes are so large they can feed 15 people, they are 18cms tall, and come in various colours and flavours.
The cupcakes are made to order by cupcake firm Lola’s on Primrose Hill, London. The cupcakes take about two hours to create by hand.
They are currently sold via the Lola’s website, and in department stores Selfridges and Harrods.

Standard cupcake and the £45 Lola’s large cupcake :o

Mellissa Hobbs, 26, from Lola’s, said the super cakes had been a huge hit.
She said, “The giant cupcake has already become one of our most popular items, it’s gone down really well.”

Journalist Charlotte Martin tested the chocolate variety yesterday, and she loved it.
She said, “I was in heaven, but I couldn’t eat a whole one!”

I’m sure they are nice, but the photos make me feel sick! I’m not really a sweet food fan ~ except for chocolate!

The German tourist was on a boat tour in Costa Rica, South America, when the crocodile decided to surprise her!

I wonder if she managed to take any photos - or was she too frightened?
It’s a perfect action shot for the ’snap’ happy tourist. :o

West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers Cheddar is lost in Space!

Posted in Food ~ Recipes, News, Videos  by Laura on July 28th, 2009

Members of a Somerset-based cheesemakers group are hoping to make the first space flight by a piece of Cheddar.
Unfortunately the group say they have lost track of the cheese. :o
At 0400 BST a weather balloon was launched 18.6 miles (30km) into the upper atmosphere, carrying a 300g wedge of Cheddar cheese
The organisers’ GPS tracking system has stopped working, and now they need help to find the cheese once it lands.
They say it could land anywhere between Pewsey in Wiltshire and Hertfordshire.

Dom Lane, of Shepton Mallet’s West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers group said, “We’ve been tracking the trajectory and the current prediction is that it could land anywhere from here in Wiltshire to Hemel Hempstead.
“The GPS isn’t coming through on the web so we might need listeners’ help to find it because we’re not sure where it is at the moment.”

It was expected that the balloon would burst at the edge of space, leaving the capsule to float back to the ground on a parachute.
The bizarre mission is to mark the 40th anniversary of the Moon landings.
In 2007 the group used a webcam to allow internet users to watch a traditional round of Cheddar mature live on the web over the course of a year.

Philip Crawford, chairman of the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers group, said, “We are very proud of our authentic Cheddar which we make by hand on our farms and we set ourselves the very highest standards.
“It seemed appropriate, therefore, that we should mark the anniversary of the first moon landing with a giant leap for cheesekind.” :o

In 2007 the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers placed a traditional round of Cheddar onto the internet via a webcam, which allowed people to watch the cheese mature live on the web over the course of 12 months. :o

I don’t know about Cheddar cheese - but these people are definitely crackers! :o
