Dubai Cityscape ~ Video

Posted in Travel, Videos  by Laura on June 30th, 2008

We shot this video, Dubai Cityscape, when we visited Dubai on our way back to England from India a few years ago.
I bet it looks a lot different now with all of the new buildings that have been constructed since our visit.

Jimmy Choo JJ Black Framed Sunglasses With Grey Lenses

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on June 29th, 2008

I love sunglasses, and I especially like this pair.
Jimmy Choo JJ shiny black framed sunglasses with grey shaded lenses. Jimmy Choo ‘knot’ in python effect, and gold metal logo on the arms. They come with a Jimmy Choo case and cloth. 100% UVA and UVB protection.
They are available in four colours; Dark Havana brown, Silver Metalised, Cappucino brown, and Shiny black. Depending where you purchase them they cost about £215.

The only thing I would change is the gold logo, I would prefer no logo, or a silver coloured one!

Marc By Marc Jacobs Twinsie Colour Block Sweater

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on June 29th, 2008

Like many women I am drawn to black clothes, and although it is way too warm at the moment :) thankfully, I quite like this jumper.
It’s unusual for Marc Jacobs to produce something so dull, but I like it.

Marc By Marc Jacobs twinsie colour block sweater, black-and-grey black coloured wool asymmetric sweater. It is double layered, has full sleeves, contrast ribbed trims. 100% wool.
You could brighten this jumper up with a colourful scarf. It costs approximately €307.

This stressful life!!!!!

Secret Sister ……. Or Brother?

Posted in Topsy~Turvy  by Laura on June 28th, 2008

I’ve been messing about online for an hour or so today, and as usual lots of random thoughts have been flitting in and out of my mind, so I thought I’d post one of the less surreal ones.

I’ve been reading about Lindsay Lohan and her alleged secret sister, which will be confirmed once her father has taken a DNA test, and it’s funny timing because recently I’ve been thinking, “I wish I had a sister or brother I didn’t know about.”
I quite fancy having a sister, but there are strict guidelines for her, I would like a sister ~

  • Older than me
  • Fatter than me
  • Taller than me
  • Uglier than me
  • Poorer Richer than me, (I can’t decide which as both have their pros and cons)
  • Less intelligent than me
  • So basically my long lost secret sister would be ~

  • Old
  • Fat
  • Lanky
  • Ugly
  • Poor Rich?
  • Stupid

She doesn’t really sound all that great does she? She’s getting a raw deal. So in retrospect, as I believe in the saying “Be careful what you wish for, as it might just come true’, maybe I won’t wish for a sister after all. :o
Maybe I’ll wish for a brother instead?

Jackie Brazil Recycled Resin Stripe Detail Bangle

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on June 27th, 2008

I try not to look at jewellery online as I make my own, but sometimes I can’t resist a little jewellery and/or accessory surfing. There is so much jewellery available and some of it is priced so low that it is cheaper to buy it than to try and make it myself.
I particularly like this bangle.
I have owned hundreds of bracelets and bangles over the years, many of them similar to this one, but I have no idea where there are now?
If a friend had liked anything of mine I would have given it to them, so I suppose my numerous bangles etc were either given to friends or taken to the charity shop.
I wish I had kept them, but that’s what I say about everything I no longer have, unfortunately it’s just not possible to keep everything ever purchased or acquired it is? more’s the pity.

Jackie Brazil recycled resin bangle. It’s black and chunky, with a multi coloured stripe detail around one edge. It costs €62.55.
I want it!

On Time by John Milton

Posted in Poetry ~ Quotes  by Laura on June 27th, 2008

FLy envious Time, till thou run out thy race,
Call on the lazy leaden-stepping hours,
Whose speed is but the heavy Plummets pace;
And glut thy self with what thy womb devours,
Which is no more then what is false and vain, [ 5 ]
And meerly mortal dross;
So little is our loss,
So little is thy gain.
For when as each thing bad thou hast entomb’d,
And last of all, thy greedy self consum’d, [ 10 ]
Then long Eternity shall greet our bliss
With an individual kiss;
And Joy shall overtake us as a flood,
When every thing that is sincerely good
And perfectly divine, [ 15 ]
With Truth, and Peace, and Love shall ever shine
About the supreme Throne
Of him, t’ whose happy-making sight alone,
When once our heav’nly-guided soul shall clime,
Then all this Earthy grosnes quit, [ 20 ]

ASOS Leather Bangle Flat Sandal

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on June 26th, 2008

I love these sandals.
Leather Bangle Flat Sandal, they are cheap priced at €35, but they probably won’t be particularly comfortable as the bangle looks quite rough on the inside. I’d still wear them though … at least until they rubbed a sore spot on my ankle!

Love will tear us apart!!!!

Lifeguard Ensuring Bath-Time Safety

Posted in Funny Pictures  by Laura on June 26th, 2008

It is very important to be careful whenever you take to the water.
Although having a lifeguard on standby whilst you enjoy a relaxing bath may be taking things a little too far. :o

Alive In A Dead Rotating Universe By Sri Aurobindo

Posted in Poetry ~ Quotes  by Laura on June 26th, 2008

Alive in a dead rotating universe
We whirl not here upon a casual globe
Abandoned to a task beyond our force;
Even through the tangled anarchy called Fate
And through the bitterness of death and fall
An outstretched Hand is felt upon our lives.
It is near us in unnumbered bodies and births;
In its unslackening grasp it keeps for us safe
The one inevitable supreme result
No will can take away and no doom change,
The crown of conscious Immortality,
The godhead promised to our struggling souls
When first man’s heart dared death and suffered life.
One who has shaped this world is ever its lord:
Our errors are his steps upon the way;
He works through the fierce vicissitudes of our lives,
He works through the hard breath of battle and toil,
He works through our sins and sorrows and our tears,
His knowledge overrules our nescience;
Whatever the appearance we must bear,
Whatever our strong ills and present fate,
When nothing we can see but drift and bale,
A mighty Guidance leads us still through all.
After we have served this great divided world
God’s bliss and oneness are our inborn right.
