Homeless Japanese Woman Found In Man’s Closet; She Had Lived There For A Year!

Posted in News  by Laura on May 31st, 2008

A homeless woman reportedly snuck into a man’s house and lived there in his closet for a year undetected.
The woman was arrested in Japan after the home owner noticed that his food was disappearing.
Police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday that Police had found the 58-year-old woman on Thursday, she was hiding in the top compartment of the man’s closet. They arrested her for trespassing.
After becoming suspicious about his food disappearing the resident of the home installed security cameras which transmitted images to his mobile phone.
One of the cameras captured someone moving about inside his home Thursday after he had left, so thinking he was being burgled he phoned the police.
But when the police arrived at the man’s property they found that the door was locked and all of the windows were closed.
Police spokesman Hiroki Itakura said, “We searched the house, checking everywhere someone could possibly hide. When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side.”
The woman told the police that she had nowhere else to live, and that she initially snuck into the man’s house about a year ago after he left it leaving the door unlocked. Hiroki Itakura said the woman moved a mattress into the small closet, and even took showers. He called the woman “neat and clean.”

Tao Te Ching Verse 81

Posted in Poetry ~ Quotes  by Laura on May 31st, 2008

True words aren’t eloquent;
eloquent words aren’t true.
Wise men don’t need to prove their point;
men who need to prove their point aren’t wise.

The Master has no possessions.
The more he does for others,
the happier he is.
The more he gives to others,
the wealthier he is.

The Tao nourishes by not forcing.
By not dominating, the Master leads.

Cutting Side Swept Fringe (Bangs) ~ Angelina Jolie

Posted in Topsy~Turvy, Videos  by Laura on May 30th, 2008

I don’t like going to the hairdressers so I decided to cut my own fringe (bangs) … with the help of Angelina Jolie!
If you feel like cutting your own fringe too … this video may help … although it probably won’t!
It may look as though I butchered my hair, but it turned out okay, and I looked gorgeous whilst cutting it!

Angel Jackson Suede Jaguar Bag

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on May 30th, 2008

I think this is quite cool, it’s a suede Jaguar bag by Angel Jackson. It comes in khaki or bright pink. I don’t like either colour though.
The bag is soft suede with a gold effect jaguar emblem, a chain handle, flap opening with popper fastening. It costs about €255.

45 Mercy Street by Anne Sexton

Posted in Poetry ~ Quotes  by Laura on May 30th, 2008

In my dream,
drilling into the marrow
of my entire bone,
my real dream,
I’m walking up and down Beacon Hill
searching for a street sign –
namely MERCY STREET.
Not there.

I try the Back Bay.
Not there.
Not there.
And yet I know the number.
45 Mercy Street.
I know the stained-glass window
of the foyer,
the three flights of the house
with its parquet floors.
I know the furniture and
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
the servants.
I know the cupboard of Spode
the boat of ice, solid silver,
where the butter sits in neat squares
like strange giant’s teeth
on the big mahogany table.
I know it well.
Not there.

Where did you go?
45 Mercy Street,
with great-grandmother
kneeling in her whale-bone corset
and praying gently but fiercely
to the wash basin,
at five A.M.
at noon
dozing in her wiggy rocker,
grandfather taking a nap in the pantry,
grandmother pushing the bell for the downstairs maid,
and Nana rocking Mother with an oversized flower
on her forehead to cover the curl
of when she was good and when she was…
And where she was begat
and in a generation
the third she will beget,
me,
with the stranger’s seed blooming
into the flower called Horrid.

I walk in a yellow dress
and a white pocketbook stuffed with cigarettes,
enough pills, my wallet, my keys,
and being twenty-eight, or is it forty-five?
I walk. I walk.
I hold matches at street signs
for it is dark,
as dark as the leathery dead
and I have lost my green Ford,
my house in the suburbs,
two little kids
sucked up like pollen by the bee in me
and a husband
who has wiped off his eyes
in order not to see my inside out
and I am walking and looking
and this is no dream
just my oily life
where the people are alibis
and the street is unfindable for an
entire lifetime.

Pull the shades down –
I don’t care!
Bolt the door, mercy,
erase the number,
rip down the street sign,
what can it matter,
what can it matter to this cheapskate
who wants to own the past
that went out on a dead ship
and left me only with paper?

Not there.

I open my pocketbook,
as women do,
and fish swim back and forth
between the dollars and the lipstick.
I pick them out,
one by one
and throw them at the street signs,
and shoot my pocketbook
into the Charles River.
Next I pull the dream off
and slam into the cement wall
of the clumsy calendar
I live in,
my life,
and its hauled up
notebooks.

Poisonous Snake Bites Mans Penis As He Stops For Loo Break In Cairns, Australia

Posted in Animals, News  by Laura on May 29th, 2008

A man almost died when he was bitten by a deadly snake in Australia.
Nothing particularly unusual about that you might say, this isn’t the first time a poisonous snake has bitten someone.
But what makes this story slightly more unusual is that the snake bit the man on his penis. :o
The man had stopped for a roadside loo break and was crouching on the roadside near Laura, 300kms northwest of Cairns, Australia, when the poisonous brown snake darted between his legs and bit his penis, before slithering off.
Emergency workers wrapped the man’s penis in plastic in case it was infected with poison.
The man, a tourist, was understandably vomiting and suffering with severe stomach pain, but thankfully he was given the all clear at hospital.
An ambulance spokesman described the victim as “lucky” and said, “It certainly had a swipe at him.
“But it didn’t envenomate him. As it came through it must have got a bit of a shock.
“I think he was a bit shocked and embarrassed.”

I thought you were supposed to suck the venom out of a snake bite? I guess the guy was either travelling alone, or his friends don’t like him that much? :o

From what I know about Australia it seems like a pretty place to live, but I would never contemplate emigrating over there because of all of the dangerous and potentially deadly insects and animals that also reside there. Not that it would even be possible to move to Australia because they have very strict immigration rules.

Gustav Klimt The Kiss ~ Silk Scarf

Posted in Fashion and Accessories  by Laura on May 28th, 2008

I saw this online somewhere? and it caught my eye because I posted an image of The Kiss in my previous post.
I quite like it, even though it’s a bit naff. :o
Here’s what the website said about this scarf ~
Klimt The Kiss Oblong Scarf
The powerful bond between man and woman (c. 1907) is eloquently illustrated by the renowned 20th-century artist, Gustav Klimt, in his iconic painting of The Kiss. His paintings are large allegorical canvases which combine linear construction and rich colors often illustrating a world of beautiful women and nudes against a bejeweled background. Now in the Osterreichische Galerie, Wien, the original painting is here adapted as a beautiful scarf made from 100% silk, golden background, black border, klimt signature at corner, 16″W x 64″L. The painting repeats once so that it appears once on the left and once on the right side of the neck when worn. $59
